Am I being short sighted?

Having just finished a film 'Transitions' (were I've used all the prettiest
transitions available to me...over 60 in two minutes) , am now embarking
on a film entitled 'Searching' .......
......and yer all gonna really luv this one ......for ALL the shots in it
are *badly* out of focus, including the credits.

But to make sure judges don't say the very, very obvious, I've underlined
the main title with a line of *IN FOCUS* dots! That
should be sufficient to tell all and sundry that the 'out of focus' is intentional,
whether they like it or not!.

Yeh, let someone make the boring rules and I'll try break 'em.

An interesting thought that, but the line of 'in focus' dots is my sole gateway
to avoiding that.........I HOPE! Oh well, sod the bleedin' judges and projectionists

My pet peeve is moviemakers who give no indication of sound level in their
opening titles.

In commercial movies there are a couple of standards to which sound engineers
usually work and you can be fairly sure that if level 6 is right for one
film it will be pretty close for any other.

I am not aware of any such convention in amateur movies. Some editors seem
to nudge the sound level right up to the red mark which indicates distortion,
others operate much lower.

Giving the title sequence some music which is typical of the rest of the
soundtrack level allows me to adjust as necessary before any important dialogue
arrives.

But suppose that a fim maker wishes to start his film in silence?
That maybe because he wishes to set a sombre mood without music.
Many, many films do not start with the sound level meter in mind.
