I have a Sony dcr pc115 (same as the 120) which shows an error code of c31:23 I researched and found it to be a pinch roller and folled a YouTube clip telling me how to repair it. When I looked inside the camera there was no pinch roller so I raided an old pc120 and found one which I fitted into mine. However I now still get the code and it won't play or record. I have followed a few simple tips mentioned nin the forum but still to no avail. I'm not sure if I need to reset the camera or if it still isn't fixed. Any help would be gratefully received.
You looked inside your camera and there was no pinch roller? So it had been removed during a repair and not replaced, is that it? I doubt whether a reset would make any difference because it sounds to me as if the feed or take up reel tables aren't turning for some reason.

there was no pinch roller in the one that I was using. The terminally dead pc 120 had one in so I took it out and put it into the pc115 that had recently been playing up suggesting that it came loose, fell off and caused it to stop working and get the error message invthe first place. Does that sound clearer???
