QUEEN OF THE FIRTH

Visit our new page on our website dedicated to the P&O ferry MV St Ola which serviced the route between Scrabster (port of Thurso) and Stromness on the Orkney mainland for many years. The ferry was much loved and many tales of voyages over the Pentland Firth involving this ship simply abound. (none of them bounded onto the page though!) We are going to make a film about it but quickly snatched the images from over an hours worth of cine film from 1974/75 to create the new page. Enjoy!

Damn! You guys are good.

What a great way to use old movie material so that it reaches the widest possible public. A good choice of stills from the old movie with - I'm guessing here - just a little tweaking in a photo editor but not so much as to disguise their origin on film. So you link lots of decent sized pictures with tightly worded text which adds touches of local and specialist knowledge.

Why isn't every movie club that has old footage to hand doing something like this?!

I always follow-up when you tell us the website has something new on it and I'm never disappointed.

Nice one! I envy you the joy of putting together a film using this material along with present day shots. Interviews with old salts, passenger's memories, fair weather and storm; Orkney and Thurso, hope we get to see the end result in some Festivals,

Thanks guys. Plan is (long term) to show the film on both sides of the Pentland Firth. As for festivals, it's not out of our plans to enter festivals, we're just too busy putting films together and working on the next Big Gig. Hey Ned, your film looks ral good on the big screen, thuroughly enjoyed it.
