Wotan Video lights

Post by Johnno »

I have a pair of Wotan 1003 Video lights and I'm trying to find out what lamps
they take. No luck on Google. Does anyone here know the marque? I think
they are from the the 1990s, although they might be '80s. The lamp must
be a bi-pin with same-diameter pins at 6.5mm spacing.

Thanks for reading this.

Can you work out anything else from the old lamps, the housing etc like their
working voltage, wattage etc? What shape are they? (cone-shaped halogens,
capsule shaped halogens, pencil style, tip of a condom shape, valve shape,
doemstic light bulb shape.)

I seem to recall that Osram took over the Wotan brand so they may do an appropriate
lamp. I also failed to find anything helpful on the net about those video
lights but maybe one of our readers who was using such lights will be able
to help.

A lot of the early video lights were actually very hot in use - you may want
to consider buying a cheap new light instead ... but let's see if anyone
can help restore your existing kit.

Cheers

Thanks for replying.

I haven't got any old lamps - that's the problem: I've no idea what they
should be. They are 1000W 240v equal sized 6.5mm spaced bi-pins. That's
all I know.

The units have built-in cooling fans and fins so they probably do run hot.

I really do not know - I've never owned a video light - but try this link:
https://secure.mmm.co.uk/cgi-bin/site-e ... eid=163380

(It is very long, but if you can copy and paste it into your browser it takes
you to a page on the website of a firm selling lamps etc and to a close-up
of a lamp which might fit and costs under £16.) Take a look and see if you
think this is a possible candidate. Meantime anyone else with ideas, please
write in.

Hi John

I assume you managed to find the lamps you needed, given the date of your posting. I had a similar need since I managed to drop my WOTAN Video 1002 light (also 1 KW lamp). At least I knew what it looked like.

I managed to find spares at Pro Lighting Accessories Ltd.

http://www.prolightingaccessories.co.uk ... DgodGUI7Jg

£8.99ea + £3.99 Postage & Pkg ( 2 wkg days delivery!!, excellent service)

Also available from Jessops but at twice the price !!!

I've just fitted and tested it and it works perfectly.

Just thought I'd add this to your thread in case anyone else is looking.

regards

John.
