Re: Be Grateful & Talk Of Superiority. & projector setup
Just a thought on video projectors ... none that I have found work properly
straight out of the box.
They are almost all designed to present computer graphics like Powerpoint
slide shows or spreadsheets for business use - and to do so in rooms with
a fair amount of ambient light. Films traditionally have different needs.
For film you need a darker image and work on the assumption that the ambient
lighting is low.
For computer use projectors need to give a bright image edge to edge so that
you can read all the figures on a spreadsheet. All cine projectors give a
brighter area in the centre of the screen than at the edges, and we expect
to view movies that way. The ideal contrast levels are different for business
video than for film and so on.
I am not good at setting video projectors up but there are a couple of DVDs
which provide a range of test signals and so on. These help even clots like
me to get the picture closer to the movie ideal. If you can track down an
engineer from one of the broadcast tv companies (we have an ex-BBC friend)
they know what very subtle adjustments are required to just make the image
on screen feel like film rather than very large tv set pictures.
It is worth noting that most clubs have their pictures far too bright. It
may be a reaction from years of underpowered cine and early video projectors.
The differences are subtle but become important. A well setup video projector
is less likely to give you headaches and indeed the latest ones rarely give
the rainbow fringe effect either.
It takes an expert a matter of hours to set up a video projector properly.
Once done the settings can usually be stored in the machine's memory for
future use. Most machines can store more than one set of settings so you
can have it perfect for your club room and just as bright as possible for
shows where you have to set up quickly in someone else's hall.

A quick bit of digging around the net suggests you should be able to play
from WMP to the projector using the video output. I guess since you have
Premiere working that way the connection between PC and projector is OK.
So
1. After connecting the cables, always turn the projector on first, then
turn on your PC.
2. Set your computer display to 800 x 600 so that it matches the likely size
used by the projector. (Go Control Panel > Display > Settings.)
3. If you are using a laptop computer you may have to turn off the built-in
screen - check the instruction manual. It is usually a function key marked
"LCD/CRT".
4. Make sure WMP is set to play full screen.
5. On WMP go to Tools > Options > Performance >Advanced and untick "use overlays"
tick boxes.
Hope that lot will do the trick but have not been able to test it myself.
I have a feeling you can use video in PowerPoint presentations. Someone
told me you can access specific time code sequences on a DVD through PowerPoint
so it can be a good way to show specific scenes from a DVD without faffing
around through menus and so on. I only have Powerpoint Viewer on my machine
so cannot check this until I can get to another one. Try a Google search
for the technique.

for the new big screen to be used in venues as well as outdoors during street

Moving images projected onto buildings or white-sided HGV trailers can look

The minute I find a projector with the right lamp compatability, it's going
