Canon HV30

My Canon HV30 has developed the following fault the LCD screen is grey with a white stripe down the right hand side. I can see through the viewfinder without any trouble but am unable to use the screen in either record or playback. Any ideas what is causing the trouble please

Such a fault (where the rest of the camera continues to work well) invariably points to the ribbon cable feeding the LCD screen. The constant movement can unseat the plugs on the main circuit board, or worse, actually break continuity within the ribbon. It sounds like a job for the repair man unless you're brave with a small screwdriver.
