[quote="ned c"]I am answering from East Anglia so am under an English sky. East Anglia is beautiful, Ned. About 17 years ago I made a film about that area. The title of my film is "Old World Charm". I still did the camera work with my 8mm canon camera. The contents of that film : Newmarket and the h...

Re: Why did you join the IAC?

[quote="stingman Why did you join the IAC? I joined the IAC about 11 years ago. Maybe because I love Britain. I prefer the British atmosphere rather than the Belgian one at festivals. I am sure that all my friends who have already attended BIAFF and other festivals on the Albion and in Guernsey shar...

Re: Film Festival

I was having a look at the web-site for the BBC Film Festival which is being held in Glasgow on 9th Sept. and was intrigued by the picture of the presenter as it looks to me as if he is posing with a Super 8 camera. It looks like it could be a Canon but I might be wrong - what do you all think? htt...

[quote="Brian Saberton"]I know that some people favour them but as someone who does a bit of judging I dislike scoring systems for different aspects of a movie and never use them as I think it makes the process too clinical. What weighting would you give to each element? Should technical aspects car...

Dear all, The subject says it all but I have just experienced a fantastic event. As most of you all know, I am a keen Motorcyclist and I ride my motorcycle when I can. Everyday! Anyway...... Or considering every Vespa scooter and it`s rider are kitted out in Mod gear and have Union Jacks EVERYWHERE...

Judges comments, yes; but dividing up "the rest" into award categories must be a nightmare and very uncertain so don't bother. Perhaps I would hang a Gold award on a quiet wall but certainly nothing less. ned c "I would hang a Gold award on a quiet wall, but certainly nothing less." Me too, Ned. As...

Am I Harsh? Am I fair? What do you think? It`s over to you . You're honest, Ian. Maybe I was of the only foreigners who was interviewed. It took me some time to record the interview in my club. Some friends helped me. David Andrew seemed to be very pleased with the result. I was standing next to a ...

Re: TV Viewing of DVD's

[quote="Michael Slowe"]Although the LCD screens are improving all the time (especially when viewing HD) I still prefer the Plasma screens. They seem to give a far warmer more natural image, as Dave says, but of course they are more expensive and probably have a shorter life span. Yes, Plasma screens...

[quote="Dave Watterson"] Many modern LCDs sold for use as television sets - and many modern video-projectors (I like the European name for them: beamers) - Beamer Does it mean that the British never use the word "beamer" ? First, the Belgian film maker should have his award withdrawn because his film is obviously not a "non-commercial" production. In fact the absolute opposite. If he refuses then I would make a point of publicising that the award was in an AMATEUR Festival (ie "home movies", that should devalue his f...
