UNICA 2023
The world festival for non-commercial films, UNICA, takes place 10th - 16th September in Comacchio, Italy.
The national organisations for amateur film makers in 24 countries have chosen short programmes of films to represent their lands. (There are more member countries in UNICA but not all could participate this year.)
The British programme will be screened on Tuesday 12th just after lunch. Our programme consists of:
The Adventures of Cowboy Kale
Dig!
A Smuggler's Song
The Power of Water
These will be judged by the official jury.
There is also a contest for one-minute movies and ours is Flying. These will be judged by audience vote.
What scores do you predict for our entries? They could get "Gold, Silver, Bronze or Diploma of Honour.
(Please remember the film makers may also read this forum!)

Thanks, Michael!
Getting ready to go to this year's UNICA festival seems more work than it used to be ...

One of the nice things about this Forum is that posts can be edited.

I'll try to keep you posted. Our hotel has wifi, I'll bring a tablet ... the problem will me remembering to do so and being sober enough to use an on-screen keyboard.

The results are in https://unica.movie/2023
Gary Hewitt's "Dig", winner of BIAFF 2023, won a UNICA Gold medal and won Best in Competition. Well done Gary.
Congrats also to Suzi Topolska, whose inventive "Adventures of Cowboy Kale" was awarded a diploma.

Re: UNICA 2023
It was a wonderful moment for the Brits in the hall.
We had an inkling that it might get one of the rare Goods ... But never dared hope it would take the top award.
I have to say that since it was 30 degrees heat and the hall lacked aircon ... the closing scene in the rain won even more tears than usual!
