When AMPS (American Motion Picture Society) closed its doors we were left with a substantial archive of films, DVDs, documents and photographs spanning ,many years. The temptation was to put it in the trash, through an academic interested in amateur film (Prof Neumann North Arizona University) he advised we donate to a professional film archive. So everything went off to the North East Historic Film in Maine USA where it has been catalogued and is available for study. I know that there is a substantial collection of IAC material at the East Anglia Archive. These records are important for historians as amateurs often capture times and places and people absent from the professional cinema. Don't throw it away - archive it!

Is it available for free and to all? Or just academics and/or at a cost.

The archive is open to anyone by appointment; the AMPS collection is not on-line so it requires a personal visit. I believe you can get a catalog by request.
