On this model there is a knurled wheel, really a projecting cog wheel, low down on the left side. It was almost solid but yielded to finger-scraping pressure and turns a little.
Anyone know what it's for? It doesn't seem to alter focus or inching.

Anyone reading this might also know if silver can be extracted from 40-year old undeveloped film, mostly colour. I know it could be retrieved from X-ray film. I assume there is no other use for it?

I do not know this particular machine, but on the ELMO (and other badged versions) 8mm machine there is a knurled knob used for framing (inching). BUT you have to push it in before you turn it to affect the framing, otherwise it won't turn. Perhaps this is the same on yours? Only a thought!

Thanks for that, granfer, but not the case here. (You have to press on it very firmly to get movement at all. Perhpas needs a drop of oil but not easy to see where.
