Adobe encore -Motion Video buttons.

Post by Roy1 »

I am using Adobe CS5 and have encountered a problem with Making Motion video buttons in a menu using Encore. I have read and looked at several tutorial CD's and written manuals and can't find an answer. THE PROBLEM IS THIS :- After successfully placed a motion button on the menu and limited the duration to 10 seconds before it loops with the setting at forever, on playback both in preview and also on a dvd disc, after the 10 sec. play the screen goes blank for a second or so before the looping starts and the button returns to the screen. The button is programmed to start playing the video when clicked. Any help with curing this unaccceptable result will be appreciated. BTW on one forum I read that another poster had complained of a pause happening before looping began, he didn't mention if the screen went blank during the pause, so I don't know if it's the same problem I have. He went on to say that nothing could be done about it as it is an Adobe problem which Adobe didn't want to know about. He blasted Adobe for not curing this problem in the same way as Vegas had. I can vouch for this as I used Vegas and in architect making motion video buttons gave a seamless looping.

Roy

As Encore has been developed unfortunately some aspects have become worst and not better, this is the case with your problem.

It does seem to be a bug that effects some users and not others

I have CS5.5 and hence Encore 5.1 on my system where I tried to replicate and yes I suffer from it to.

I did a quick search on the Adobe Encore forum and one of the Guru's there advised another user with the same problem to extend the loop time to 60 seconds.

Sorry I cannot be of more help but I rarely use Encore, and even when I do it is a quick simple project.

As a tip, if you do go onto what appears to be the official Adobe forum they are not what they seem in that they are a user-to-user help forum and any Adobe tagged member just happens to be their in their own time out of the goodness of their hearts.

COLIN. Thanks for your usual swift reply. Actually I have solved my problem in as such that the screen no longer goes blank at the end of the looping time before the next loop starts. What happens now is that a freeze frame appears, but it is so short in duration that it's not noticable unless you are looking for it. So I'm satisfied with the result.

For the benefit of others facing this same problem, Roy, how did you manage that trick?

DAVE. I remembered that in 2003 someone mentioned tinkering around with the motion settings. I had originally set the duration of the motion to be 10 secs. before the repeat because I didn't want to reveal too much of the short video before it started. I also had the looping panel clicked to"Forever". I also noticed that the music playing whilst the menu was displayed, had a longer duration time than the motion buttons. My tinkering resulted in my setting the motion duration at 15 secs. I changed the looping repeat number to 17 and made sure the music duration time was 15 secs. the same as the motion buttons, and the looping number was also 17. Hey Presto it works.(At least it works for me). No more black or blank screen between loop repeats and the whole result seamless to my eyes, which are pretty old. This might not work for everyone. I would suggest that if you have a long video you select a higher duration time to be sure.
I hope this helps someone.

Further to my recent posts regarding this matter. I have now tried the procedure with Bluray menus and have to report that the result is not as good as the DVD version. Although with Bluray HD, the blank screen no longer appears between the loops, the still frame that does appear stays longer and is obvious. Still it's better than a blank screen.
