URGENT ---- MARANTZ CASSETTE RECORDER

Post by Lee Prescott »

:?: Hi Alls,

Can anyone help please? ---- (Don't smile)!......

I have a professional cassette tape recorder, (as used to be used by the BBC),
it's a Marantz Superscope CD320.

It still records and plays back superbly BUT the Fast FWD and the Rewind have
become "kaput"! It would appear that the pullys or rubber "tyres" thereon are past their "sell by date".

I am fully aware that it is an old machine but I would like to get it fixed if possible. (It
has been used in so many film sound tracks I've lost count)!

I have contacted Marantz / local agents but they are unable to help re spares now.

Does anyone know of, or is there anyone or any source I can approach?

Thanks..... Lee. :(

Have you tied a search on e-bay, I just have found a company there using the Google search

Marantz Superscope CD320 belts

Unfortunately e-bay are barred from accesing at work where I am now and so I cannot check it out further

You could raid this for spares: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MARANTZ ... 337454a3cf
However, as it appears that the belts slipping is acommon problem with aged systems this may not be a good idea (plus it's being shipped from US)

I also came across this from 2007:

Which pointed me towards: http://www.studiosoundelectronics.com/
Again in the US, so shipping might be costly, but it depends how badly you need this ....

I have bought belts before from this German company via ebay and they have the CD320 belts in stock. Cheaper and quicker than buying in the US and they take PayPal

Hi Col, Tom and Chrisk,

Many and grateful thanks for your help and the pointers. I hadn't tried E-bay
etc. I must confess, (obviously I should have done), the reason being that
previously in other directions I once had a bit of a problem so subsequently became wary!

Best wishes......Lee.
