Pendle Movie Makers brand new 4000 shows uneven illumination, the right side being less bright than the left.
Mitsubishi say this will right itself with use probably by 50 hours, certainly by 100 hours and the man I spoke to likened it to expecting brakes to take time to bed in after a change of discs and pads, and suggested I run the projector for some hours to prove it and we shall start seeing a difference in much less than this time.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Being of a generation which does remember 'running in' an engine but knowing that modern ones are made to finer tolerances and that procedure is not now necessary it was not a good analogy to make.

At Preston we also have a Mitsubishi but the 5500 model.

We did not have the same problem as you are experiencing but we did have to tweak a few settings to get the best image.

I would try producing a short video with red, green, blue, black and grey images produced in Photoshop.

These can be easily made in Photoshop and saved with RGB attributes

On a timeline make each about 15 seconds long and then make a Blu-ray.

I made a Blu-ray with the BBC HD testcard which we also use to set up colours and focus.

Use the disk to see if any colour is worst than the other and tweak the settings.

The Mitzi projector also has two modes, a normal and low power. On ours the default was low power, changing to normal improved the image quality dramatically.

I can make a note of the settings and let you know them if you like but that would not be until Friday next week.

Your offer to let me know the settings you have found good is most acceptable, Colin, and there is no hurry. I think you have my email address if you want to use that but of course it would be of interest to others so I will check this forum to see what you say if not.
Gordon Sharp at Spellbound also uses the standard setting and feels that made a difference. We haven't tried as we thought the image was plenty bright enough but we will try that as well. Perhaps that will burn the arc lamp to an even illumination quicker. We always want things to last longer but since they get out of date so quickly perhaps there is no point.
