Premiere CS5 MPEG encoding

There has been a post within the e-mail group on encoding and my response is partly reproduce here for reference
Whilst it is applicable for CS 5 earlier versions will be similar
I shall go through step by step what you need to do to create a SD MPG file from your HD timeline, here goes: -
With a 1080i project
Click on the sequence (timeline) to highlight it
From the menu chose File > Export > Media
The Export Settings window will open
Under Export Settings choose PAL DV High Quality
Click on the filename to the right of Output name (It will be shown by default as Sequence 01.mpg unless you have named your sequence) & give your file a name and navigate the window to where you want the file saved
Under the video tab
Set Quality to 5
Set Pixel Aspect Ratio to what you want
In Bitrate Settings under Bitrate Encoding choose CBR
In Bitrate set it to 8
Now go back up the window to Preset and you will see that the name has changed to custom.
Click on the Save Preset icon and give it a name you will recognise such as PAL-SD-16x9
Click on Export and then go and have a brew
The next time you wish to produce a file all you will need to do is to choose the preset you have just named, and to give the file a name and location where it is to be stored
There are other possibilities such as using VBR but for your use I would stay with CBR encoding.
Now whilst you have that lovely HD movie on the timeline it would be a shame not to save it in HD.
This time: -
Format MPEG2
Preset HD TV 1080i 25 HQ
Name file and navigate to the location (I suggest that in the name you include HD such XXXXHD.mpg)
Under bitrate Settings VBR 1 or VBR2 (its not critical which)
Minimum to 15
Target to 25
Maximum to 35
Click on save preset and name it HD-MPG for future use
Away you go job done?
