So what do you use to perform your sound/audio mix?
To date, i've just used the extra couple of tracks that exist in my editing suite... but lately this just isn't enough. I've been told about Adobe Audition and QBase, but is there anything else out there that might cost a little less?

Re: Sound/Audio Mix Applications
Cheers Col... i have audacity, but it's not quite there. I need to see the film whilst creating the audio, makes it easier to get the sound fx timed correctly, etc. I'd love Audition, but at £300... it's a little pricey for me at the moment.

If you know anyone in full time education then you could obtain the student version of most Adobe products for a considerably marked down price.
My Wife is studying for a Degree and I got CS5.5 production suite which includes Premiere, Encore, Photoshop, AE, Audition + others for less than £300, there is no difference in functionality that affects my workflow in any programme just "student edition" on their flash screen

Re: Sound/Audio Mix Applications
Just thought i'd update this topic. I've done more research, and i've come across 2 very cost effective solutions. First up is Sonar X1 Essentials, which costs about £75 on Amazon. I've been chatting to other film makers and there seems to be a growing number of people using this software.
The other package is called Reaper, and it costs only $60 (£42). You can download a trial version, before buying and i have to say... it's gonna take some practice, but it's pretty good so far.
So keep an eye out for them!

Have a look at Sony Sound Forge Studio; this works well with video and is inexpensive.
