Recording on a Canon 5D

Post by robert »

I wish to start recording sound on my Canon 5D Mark 2 camera. I already have and AKG C1000 microphone. Can anyone advise me if a mike cradle and connection is available for the 5D?

Try Canon's website. Few people around here will own one of these babies.

Thanks, Billy, but no joy with Canon on the AKG. However I have been pointed to another website which offers the possibiity of attaching different mikes to the 5D- trouble is, I'd have to buy a new mike when I've already got one.

Hi Robert,

The 5D Mark II has a Stereo Jack in it as well as the usual Hot Shoe on the top for attaching your External Mic. The camera has a built in Mic but it is only Mono, so you need to attach the external mic to get Stereo Sound.

I did a little research and it would appear your Mic has a 3-pin XLR Connection. So if you are going to use it with the 5D, you may need to find yourself a converter to a Mini Jack? Not totally au fait with that side of things really.

Hope that helps.
