Hi there!
This may sound like a long shot - but, does anyone know if any of Movie Maker Magazine's 10 Best Amateur Films From the 70's and 80's are available anywhere to see online or for hire? I have found some of Sheila Graber's work on Youtube - but that is all. Any ideas?
Many thanks!
Yours ever hopefull,
Jamie

On the main IAC website go to the search tool and search for ten best - choose the "exact phrase" option. You will find some in the IAC video library, such as:
- several of Peter Hicklings animations
Bristol Cine Society's "Terminal Moves"
Lewis Cooper's "Deja Vu" (plasticine animation)
Tim Jones's "The Land that Never Melts"
John Straiton's "Rock Video"
Peter Rouillard's "Last Weekend"
Kurt Keil's "Everyday on Stream"
Peg McClure's "House Cats"
Roy Spence's "To Kill a Habit"
Rick Sykes's "Hotel November"
Syd & Beryl Pearman's "Sunday People"
Ted Rockley's "The Inventor"
Albert Noble's "Red Type"
James Martin Smith "The Three Movie Makers"
Stuart Wynn Jones's "Short Spell"
Martin Funnel's "Private Beethoven"
Tony Hall's "'T Batley Faust"
Fred O'Neill's "Hatupatu and the Bird Woman"
Derek Phillips "The Greater Community Animal"
Peter Ryde "The Becket Business"
Michael Slowe "Ski Lift" and "Drive My Car"
Ron Chapman "The Magic Sea"
Don Thompson "Earth Shrinker to London"
Coventry Film Production Unit "Frankie and Johnny"
Jerry Biehl "Ike's Woman, Tina"
Leslie Gillham and Sidney Manasseh "Piston Polka"
and oodles more
You do not have to be an IAC member to hire them, but the librarian has discretion over whether or not to rent to non-members.
The older ones which were never transferred to video may be in some archive collections. The IAC's own film collection is in the East Anglian Film Archive - but cine versions are not easily available.

Thanks Dave for the advice - I shall go and have a look!
I am thinking of joining once I have the spare pennies. I might have a stumbling block though, as I am now an Ex-Pat living in Sweden!
Cheers,
Jamie

I won six Ten Bests in the 70's and 80's (old men are allowed to boast!) and I have 16mm film prints of them all and DVCAM tape copies of most. If you want any you are welcome. I think that there are a number also in the IAC library.
