Canon - XM1

Dear all,
Summers still here eh
I normally borrow my friends fantastic FX1. Oh it`s brillient and.......
I have just borrowed his Canon XM1 (He was useing all his FX`s
). When I came to capture, it didn`t want to know! The computer couldn`t find it via Firewire. When you plug a new device (camera) into the firewire, it installs it, and then you can use it). It just doesn`t happen.
I have since used his FX1 to capture and know it`s not the firewire port.
I think that I remember way back that the XM1`s had this sort of problem. (Stupid top-end Canon`s). Did I dream this?
If true, was there a patch to correct this?
Be good all and GET OUT THERE and FILM!
