Hello all, check out our latest little topical film on youtube. On Monday evening the Faroes ferry linking the islands with Norway via Scrabster (port of Thurso) was filmed shortly before departure on a beautiful full moon evening. Enjoy!

There really is something special about a ship sailing at night.

What news of your Festival? I believe that you had at least 3 entries from the USA. (About the same as BIAFF!!)

Thurso Bay is a beautiful area which sees mostly fishing boats and oil rig supply vessels along with daily sailings of the ferry to Orkney. The larger cruise ships and the Faroes ferry are impressive sights in the bay. What doesn't come across in our little film is how light it actually was on Monday night in the full moon. From where we filmed you could see right across the county over 20 miles. There was still a bit of daylight on the north west behind us on the headland and the stars sparkled as did the sea under the moon. The shots we got were lucky timing with the light and scenery and it was just by chance that I noticed the ferry was in port. Overall a productive evening. :D
The Big Gig went smoothly, not a great turn out of folk but that was not un-expected. Festivals have to start somewhere, we came away happy to have gotten entries enough to run 3 full length programmes and that it all went on without a glich. Boy did we hae problems before hand though. The pc kept striking jittery DVDs but we managed to get smooth copies at the last minute. A decision was made on the basis of that. We decided to upgrade our editing computor as it was being pushed over it's own lines of ability.
Anyway we were happy/releived when it was all over and are now gearing up to put ourselves through the hell of doing the same next year,- dates for your diary, 21st June 2008 is deadline for entries for the festival occurring on Friday 18th & Saturday 19th July 2008.
Here's a wee hint, have some films ready to send to us for January 2008, there's a plan up our sleeve.
Thanks for your support Ned, Looking forward to more of your films. :D

This years event (2007) was free entry but not next year. After this years event there was some thoughts about making sure the venue got a bit more out of the event as they are a charity as well. Our ticket price goes to a different charity on each show. It hasn't been decided how much yet but it is suggested that between £5 to £10 for up to five entries per person. We don't want to restrict the number of entries whilst we develope the festival and there is no maximum length of film (common sense must be applied here- 15hour holiday videos will be shredded) :D Any other senseless tack will be forwarded to mee old chum Lord Berridale just in case the Pheasant season is poor!
