Well it was fun, "Seven Shades" is in the can. The silent movie was filmed
on two days last month and lasts about 12 minutes in it's final edit. It
will eventually get it's public airing in "Micro Trip" later next year. Seven
Shades was dual shot on MiniDV and Quarzchrome super 8mm. It went to 6+ cartridges
which caused a certain amount of shouting as it was penned in to fit four.
The actors had this point made to them but it was like shouting into an empty
cave!
Nevermind, the screenplay for "The Legend Of Ganion De Burak" has now completed
it's first draught and will soon start transcript and developement stages.

Christmas is coming and so to is the shoot for "Haunted House" which will
also be included in "Micro Trip" next year.

It's very frustrating for us to keep getting tantalising hints about your
productions, "Cinema For Thurso Group", when we cannot see them!

I realise the sensible thing would be for us all to book into the Royal Hotel,
visit Thurso and see the movies as they are intended.

But given that most of us cannot manage that trip ... is there any way to
make a more portable version? Could they be transferred to (!) video? Could
they go on the net - see Albert Noble's article on the main IAC website?

Oh NO! Just not the nicest hotel in town, try the St Clair along the road,
small, cozy and worn in where you might stand a chance of meeting me.

OH no no no, we never made anything with the intension of showing it in a
hotel. Try Skinandis Nightclub (former Picture House Cinema 1922- 83) or
the Redwood Lounge (former Picture House Cinema 1913- 1922). These are our
preferred screening locations but nothin is due until late next year.

But given that most of us cannot manage that trip ...

Now here is a bone on contention for the average Caithness citizen. We
who live here at the north most end of the UK mainland find it no hardship

to travel over 300 miles to Glasgow, Aberdeen or Edinburgh to see gigs, theatre
and shows of all sorts but ask a body to come up here and then it's too far.
I see your point Dave in the difficulties thrown up by having to travel but
alas it is all too often forgetten that the distance is the same in both
directions. Thurso has a two screen cinema but the nearest Multiplex showing
new films is 110 miles away and the nearest indoor sports complex is over
50 miles away on the Orkney Islands so we think it fair that if we have to
travel so does everyone else!
The internet is never going to get my full hug but I am already shaking
it by the hand. be content people, oh shoot, my candle just blew out!

I'm not frustrated at all, Dave. I've given up all hope. Some time ago our
Thurso friend told us that he is not a Scot. He's a Pict. I think that the
Picts never crossed the border. Caithness is the land of the Picts. Did
they ever go as far as the Hadrian's Wall ? I should read a book about the
history of Scotland again. I don't remember.

As a matter of fact although the Picts stayed pretty much up the top the
Vikings certainly had some fun in York. One might also make note the the
Romans didn't get any further than the Bazantine wall (a good bit further
north than Hadrian got) but none the less they too decided it was too far
to go to see a movie in Caithness.
Like every normal person I have family in Englandshire and (woo-hoo) America
and Australia but isn't that just common as muck these days?

Surely the fantastic journey being so fantastic would be worth making twice

if it were that fantastic and this time, if you time it right, you might
get to see our films into the bargain. But don't plan your hols till next
year.
