Hurrah for Westlake ... an attractive, well-designed website with helpful
notes and photos of the people involved. This is not one of those sites
thrown
together by kids who cannot spell to show off their crudely videod kung-fu
skills. The movies include award-winners like "Memories of the Mill" (Silver
Award at BIAFF 2005 and Silver Diploma at Cotswold 2004) and performances
by familiar actors including Nigel Peever, a favourite director and performer
with Stoke Cine Club. Try "Train Rage" for a bit of fun.

The movies are in the slightly pixellated form we all love to hate, but
perfectly
watchable. At 9KB or so a time you need patience or broadband to make the
most of the site.

One note to the team ... watch your file names. They appear on many players
so be sure they are ones you want the public to see!

Dave, I tried to follow your advice and access Westlake Films but once again
I am frustrated (of Hampstead!) because all I get when I click on a film
is a lot of what looks like chinese lettering. I am, as you know, on a
mac,
is that the problem?

These movies are encoded for Windows Media Player which is not automatically
on your Apple machine. You can download version 9 free of charge in a Mac
OSX version from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.aspx
For the Mac classic OS use version 7.1 from the same page.

instance and also "Help Wanted". I think I saw the first one at BIAFF 2004.
Is that possible ?

You did indeed see it there - it was shown in one of the mini cinemas on
the Saturday and won a Bronze Award.


Anyway, congratulations for Westlake Films. Your films
will be watched on the Continent and also thanks to this IAC-Forum !

Thank you, it's nice to know our films are appreciated! (Incidentally, "Memories
of the Mill" got a "Certificate of Excellence" in the Estonian Amateur International
Festival last year.
