I've read on the front page of the Telegraph,
"Another 78 slaughtered in Iraq."
I've read on the front page of the New York Times,
"Bush goes to noddy land."
I've read on the front page of the Sun,
"Bimbo bears all!!"

But now our Michael has hit the front page of,
"Film and Video maker" introducing as it does,
his two page spread on how he made the prize
winning film, "On Silk."
Well done Michael.

And by the way, if anyone reading this doesn't get
the copy of the 'Film and Video Maker' delivered to
their door every two months then that must mean
they are not a member of the IAC.
Shame on you.

Last Aprils' issue of FVM saw the publication of my article about the "Lord
Of The Rings" trilogy.
The article had originally been offered to my local 'newspaper' (I use that
term loosely) who kept wanting to attatch reference to our local cinema.
There are grounds for which this has always been refused by me and the editor
knows full well the very good reasons. So he turned down the story because
it was the audience in Inverness who were interviewed for it instead of Thurso.
The editor said the story had 'no local relevance'. Aside from the fact that
LOTR was showing anywhere there was a cinema and that Caithnasians were among
those interviewed in Inverness, the local paper frequently prints the ramblings
of issues from Orkney, Sutherland, Easter Ross and even from Europe and the
middle east which have no relavence to Caithness in any angle of the moon
in Uranus!
So anyway, when I informed the editor that FVM were taking the story either
way to which he made a comment about my having "hit the big time". What a
sad man. Mind you I once told him in no uncertain terms that he is only the
editor of a small provincial publication and should stop thinking of himself
as being as big as Citizen Kane. Man did he get the hump over that, perhaps
there's still a chip on his shoulder.
He also once steam-rolled a piece by one of my mates. The upshot is that
my mate is currently writing Sir Clive Sinclair's biography, Mark Hamill's
biog,, Franz Ferdinands' biog and has recently interviewed Anthony Danials
for the Scotsman. My collegue is doing rather well for not being published
in our local press.
If you've got a story worth telling it will get published somewhere and
quite right too.
