A gentle reminder that the closing date is 1st September for the AMPS (American Motion Picture Society) annual festival. Rules & Enry form at www.ampsvideo.com entry fees accepted in GB Pounds and very reasonable. Judges comments sent out to all entrants, interesting new categories, new awards this year. Europeans have done well in the past Festivals!

May I endorse Ned's comments?
The Americans are very open and welcoming to the work of film makers from the UK and other countries. Part of the prizes in the AMPS festival is being granted membership of the organisation for a year ... and its occasional newsletter is one of the best I've seen with more good material packed into its few duplicated pages than many a glossy film magazine.
Like IAC and most national amateur film bodies the American ones have had trouble encouraging new people to join and thus have been going through difficult times ... Ned threw his considerable energies into AMPS for a couple of years and their new president is a guy with a lively style. He likes to work with young people and explosives!
Ned having paused to accept a commision to make a film in Uganda is back in the States and no doubt beavering away behind the scenes to encourage the best in US non-commercial movie making.
