this, but for us users of the 'Casablanca' systems this is quite an easy
thing to do. All you need is the software called 'Effects Pack 8' which has
this facility, along with other various effects. It will convert 16 x 9 to
4 x 3 and vice versa. The 16x9 conversion will be "letterboxed" ready to
play on any 4x3 system or TV. You can check all this out on www.dalco.co.uk
which will have all the info you need. If you are about to buy an editing
system, I (and many others) can recommend the Casablanca systems. I personally
use the 'Prestige' model which I think is brilliant.

To help answer the question, can I ask you why you should want to Stuart? How do I change footage filmed at 16:9 to 4:3
If you've shot 16:9 and made a DVD, the DVD player will output it letterboxed
to a 4:3 TV and 16:9 to a widescreen TV. No picture information will be
lost.
