I recently acted in a Bournemouth University Graduate Film - "The Wayfarer" The whole thing was an amazing and eye opening experience. Both learning about myself and the Uni scene, with a large number of people working together. I knew nobody, so had to get to know everybody for the first time on the day of the shooting. The film had a budget of £726 raised through crowdfunding.
I like the film, what do others think?

Bournemouth University Graduate Film
Re: Bournemouth University Graduate Film
A strangely fascinating film; watched twice and enjoyed. The animation sequence tended to obscurity at times but good transition to the live action. The Wayfarer is well done; although longish sequences never boring. There is much to be said for the "old religion" and its concern for the relationship between humanity and the seasons; good costuming, acting, visually pleasing. Music; brilliant. I would have liked a warmer voice over and a number of hand held shots; eg the church sequence would have been better served on a tripod; but that is nit-picking. Very well done. Congrats to al concerned.

Thanks for watching the film Ned, I agree with your comments especially the need for a tripod for a lot more of the shots. One of the good things about the film is it shows the ability of the makers to to work with a lot of people and create a production. Most of the actors will be able to use clips in their showreels and let's hope other students be taken up in film production or suchlike.

I also watched it twice and agree with most of what Ned writes. I thought that the very competent animation rather showed up the rather less competent live action. The acting I thought a bit childish (maybe intentionally so?), and some of the landscape shots unnecessary and held rather too long, but the overall effect is enjoyable and whimsical, which I'm sure was the object. What a credit list! That would put to shame many a Hollywood epic of the past.

Oh, and I forgot to comment on the ultimate country sin, he didn't close the gate after him!

Thanks for watching the film Michael. I agree with your comments. Re the credits, they are real! The way students are encouraged to make films is very collabarative. Which is quite different to the way most of us non student types make films.
When we were acting in the little play we did not know the extras in the audience were there, the weather was so bad and it was completly dark, so the cheering came as a surprise.
Regarding the film makers: It is a very long road from a film studies/film making degree to a job in the industry.
