Ladies & Gentlemen, foneddigion a boneddigesau, damen und herren. As of today, the IAC has a new website.

It's a work in progress, plenty of I's to dot etc. And stuff still to port across. The old website has not been deleted, it's in archive form behind the new one. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what we have so far. be nice.

Oh, and massive kudos to Jan & Dave Watterson for the eye-watering amount of work they did with the old one.

I'm with Michael here. Online mags never last long. I may make it available to members via the website but I would hope that the print version will continue.

There used to be a UK high street magazine called (i think) Moviemaker. I once wrote an article for it. Anyway, due to cash crisis they decided to go "online only". They lasted two more issues I think.

I cannot get onto the website proper as Kaspersky has it down as being potentially dangerous.

I should add that this also happened now and again before the new web site.

If your anti-virus software allows you to ignore such a warning, you can do so safely, at least so far as I know. In this case it is a clerical issue in keeping the paperwork up to date, not a nasty piece of code trying to corrupt your computer.

The "Member only" area of the website may suggest that an online version of FVM is already available. But it is in an unrecogniseable language. Will this area be only for individual members or also those afiliated to an IAC subscribing club. Clubs and club members need all the encouragement they can get, with so many closing due to the old age and death of members. And the IAC has a lot of funds.

At present the members section is in "Lorem Ipsum" ...
conventionally publishers use a standard piece of Latin text to give the impression of what a page would look like with words of different lengths.

I don't think Martin plans to publish FVM in Latin ... though he might fancy doing it in Welsh!

Martin, the magazine that you refer to, Moviemaker, was the successor to Movie Maker which in the 60s and 70s was published by Fountain Press and edited by Tony Rose and Alan Cleave. It was the mainstay of non commercial film making and promoted and ran the wonderful competition called the Ten Best. The ten best films from their 400 or so international entries were premiered at the National Film Theatre and then toured around clubs throughout the country. Many of us knew Tony and Alan personally together with a number of their regular contributors. The magazine sold from the shelves of all major retailers, like W.H.Smith, and was world famous. Surely I am not the only old man to remember all this! I, together with one or two subscribers to this Forum were lucky enough to be awarded by Tony Rose, on the stage at the NFT, with our Ten Best Trophies.

I've already removed the members only page. It was just a quick trial. But may re-appear once I've worked out a few things.
The site is still very much a Work in Progress. And yes, that was Loren Ipsum latin. And yes, a Welsh version would be great but only any use to me and Rob Phillips I suspect.

I have a lot of work to do. The original website was a vast entity and I'm having to work piecemeal between various other projects - FVM included - and I'm also in the process of selling my house and packing up to move. It's going to be an interesting couple of months.

Open to any and all suggestions re where to go with the new site btw.

Each of those tasks: magazine editor, webmaster and house mover is a full-time job-and-a-half!
