A new Super8 camera for $5,000!!! Kodak, the last makers of motion picture film are now on life support having made an agreement that Hollywood will purchase a minimum footage each year so that they can stay in business. How long will that last I wonder? More feature films are shot digitally than on film, the most recent issue of American Cinematographer reported on eight major productions all originated digitally. To shoot on Super8 requires a film purchase, processing and then scanning to a format that can be loaded into a NLE system. This is going to be a rich person's hobby or used by some pros to get a "special effect".
Does anyone really need this?"
