What software do you use in your movie making?

Post by col lamb »

In the current FVM there is a request for someone to undertake a review of software used in Movie Making. I am interested in seeing just what the spread of software the members of this forum use in producing their masterpieces, it will also help in some research that I am doing about possible regional training courses.

I am listing a range of software that either I use or that I know others use, if you use something that is not on the list could I ask you to post just the name of the software you use and the version number (no dialogue on pros and cons please)

Sony Vegas
Grass Valley Edius
Media Composer
Pinnacle Studio

SOUND

Audacity

Editing - (Media Composer), + very occasionally Serif Movie-Plus (others in OVFM use this too). (Also have Pinnacle Studio and Liquid but neither used for many years...)
DVD Creation - AvidDVD by Sonic
Sound - (Audacity) GoldWave, CoolEdit
Music Generation (Royalty Free) - Band-in-a-Box, SonicFire Pro
Images - PaintShop Pro, Drawplus
Titling - BluffTiitler (rarely used now but useful with the add-on Bixelangelo)
Animation - CrazyTalk, iClone, Corner-A Art Studio + Nature Illusion + DP Animation (for animating still pictures ... I do not like static pictures in a movie!)
Stabilisation - Mercalli (no longer needed ...)
Format conversion - Sorenson Squeeze

And I still make second rate movies.... :-( (Never more than a 4-star...)

Thanks guys

It was so much easier in the old days when nearly everyone used Adobe Premiere or Ulead Media Studio

I'll have to have a re-think about what we were proposing to undertake in the NW

Cheers
