If you enjoy the interviews with film makers on the BIAFF website, I've just added a cracking new one. It is Paul Kittel interviewing Jess O'Brien, maker of Girl A. She won Best Young British Film Maker.

Great idea of Paul's to use clips from the film. Jess makes a good subject - she is clearly switched on and able to communicate well in person as well as through the medium of film. Of course Paul's well judged questions helped no end. I'm sure Jess will be pleased with this.

But now of course I want to see Girl A again, but I can't find a link, not here, not on Vimeo or YT.

Thanks Dave. The link takes me to Girl A background videos, but strangely not to the film itself. And if nothing else it shows how feeble Vimeo's search facility is - it could find nothing when asked about Girl A.

How strange - the link takes me directly to the film.

If you try "https://vimeo.com/smallpersonproductions" can you see it on the list of productions?

I would like to say that the interviews at BIAFF and the inserted clips from the films within some of the interviews was an excellent idea....well done to the teams.

****

I too am a little unsure of the Swimming Pool film......perhaps German sense of humour is somewhat out of kilter with our own. The gnomes did not work for me - I felt that they were a little surreal for the more straightforward chosen genre which was black comedy . (This coming from the author of The DRILL, The TRAP and BLUE etc!) but I liked the big insect life closeups around the poolside which (maybe) gave some indication of the moral decay to come.

The DEER film was an oddity for me.....It was certainly a one-take tour de force of acting ability. I just cannot help consider whether the scenario might have been better served, in terms of tension, with conventional intercutting.

All in all there were many excellent and very polished films.
