Internet Movie Database (IMDb)

Post by Ian Woodward »

Has anyone on this forum registered their films with the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and, if so, can they offer any advice to would-be applicants based on personal experience of doing so?

“Are your films registered with IMDb?” is often one of the first questions interested parties ask in connection with one’s filmmaking.

Hi Ian,

I'm on the IMDB, along with a good chunk of my films. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4158321

To get your film on the IMDB Ladder, there needs to be a reason why it desereves to be registered. These could be that the film was chosen to be shown at a Film Festival, shown on TV, or was written about in the local/national press. When you register the film, you have to send in online evidence regarding your film. They then review and publish if they feel it meets their requirements.

Once you're registered, it's easier to get other pieces of work on to the database.

For more info, check out this link http://www.imdb.com/updates/guide/adding_new_title and then go to Point C.

Thanks, Geoff - that's just the sort of advice/feedback I was looking for.

I'll have a look at the links you've given when I have a moment but you've basically answered all my questions.

You've even pre-empted something I was about to ask!
