Superb Sussex festival

Post by Mike Shaw »

I'd just like to congratulate all of the film-makers with entries in the Sussex festival - every one of them a winner but of course, not all could get the trophies. An excellent show (though in all honesty, the actual projection could have been improved somewhat!). There were two or three reallly long films - between 45 minutes and an hour - but they were so well made and so engrossing, the time flew by unnoticed. And one - Letters From the Front (Ron Prosser) - picked up three well deserved trophies, of which one - for the best actor - was a 'first' in that it was awarded to the whole cast!! Again, also very well deserved. Superb performances, a superb story, brilliantly told, acted so naturally you felt you were peeking into real life. If you ever get the chance to see this film, do so.

Yes, I saw the film "Letters from the Front", Mike. Really brilliant. Congratulations to you Ron Prosser ! . Well done. And congratulations to Joy, Liz, Rod and the other friends who helped you. The actress is superb ! The end is surprising. The storyline is excellent. The sound is perfect. Ron and the Haywards Heath Moviemakers must be proud !

We also visited the Festival and agree that most films were of an excellent standard, particularly 'Letters From The Front'. However, we can't agree that the award of the 'Best Acting Trophy' to the whole cast was a first, last year South Downs VFM won the award for the cast of 'The House'.
