CERTIFICATES

Post by Ken Wilson »

Hi to all; Following my initial query regarding entry fees and the cost of
multiple entries for the BIAFF competition, I now have an update for all
those who read my posting and subsequently added their comments. I have today
been to the Newcastle club to see the final of the North vs South competition.
During the interval I spoke to Brian Dunckley, the competition manager of
BIAFF who told me that he had been "deluged" with phone calls following my
comments, as to how the IAC could save money on certificates. WOW, the power
of the press; or internet in this case! Anyhow, he assures me that figures
quoted of £5.00 are incorrect and wondered where this figure came from.
Truthfully I cannot remember who originally brought up the cost of certificates
with me at one of the festivals, but I was told that this formed quite a
substantial part of the entry fee. Brian tells me that a REPLACEMENT certificate,
should one be lost, IS charged at £5.00 and this is perhaps how the figures
have been communicated down the line. (I also acknowledge Reg`s comments
about how much the competition costs to run.) I told Brian that my comments
were only meant to stimulate discussion and not intended to be a criticism.
We laughed about it and very little blood was spilt...no honestly!
To be REALLY truthful, our conversation was very light hearted, but in any
case, I would like to set the record straight with readers..(though he kept
the true cost of certificates secret, so I can`t tell you how much they DO
cost!)
I think we should all accept that we are getting good value for money. In
fact, I would gladly pay three times as much to enter BIAFF next year.
o.k. Brian, you can let my arm go now.

Ken.
