8mm CINE FILM CLEANING & LUBRICATING

Post by Lee Prescott »

:?:

Hi Alls,

Does anyone know where I can obtain the fluid for cleaning and lubricating
8mm. cine film?

Used to be something called 22 but in my old can -- it has long ago evaporated away.

Thanks,

Lee. :(

. Try this website for Fotospeed FC50 Film cleaner. 125ml cost just under £10. http://www.thedarkroom.co.uk/products_c ... uctID=1689. I use it and it works well. If not available, (it is I checked this morning,) try THE widescreen Association. Cheers Roy

The Fotospeed FC50 Film cleaner is what I use, too. 2:22 was better, but the PC brigade reckoned that if you drunk a pint of it you'd feel a bit woozy, so it had to be banned.

Interestingly, this Forum appears to consist mainly of Film and Video Makers (not surprisingly!) with very few Film Collectors or Technical aficionados
The subject of film cleaning has been discussed many times, at length, on the following forums, with the overall consensus being towards Filmguard and Filmrenew as being the best products to clean, lubricate and long term protect your precious film. I still use 2.22, simply because I have plenty, but I do find it difficult to judge the right amount to use.
