FVM MAGAZINE - DECEMBER 2014

Post by Cathy Poole »

For example, it took me just 2 hours yesterday to secure the services of a professional commercial photographer, plus possibly the use of a large commercial photo studio, and half a dozen young men and women prepared to don the IAC merchandise and have their photograph taken. I might add that they have all offered their services for FREE.

So folks - be positive!

So whatever happened to your promises John?
Over two years later, and we're still waiting for
your promise of a new back cover for FVM magazine.

Give it up, I'm really not in the mood.

But, for your information, I did not renege on my promises and photographs of the merchandise were duly taken and delivered, all for free. I never promised to design or print a new back cover, only to supply the photographs, which I did. The decision NOT to use them was not mine but they are still available should the need arise.

Admin, please close this thread, it's been dead for over 2 years already. Let's talk about something new...

Nearly four years on, and nothing has changed.

If you're really concerned about the end of BIAFF and the end
of the IAC, and you are concerned about the lack of new members,
and more importantly wondering why very few members under
the age of forty are not joining us, and the fact that very few younger
people have never heard of these wonderful organisations.

I can tell you why.

Please take a good look at the back cover of the current October
2018 issue of Film & Video Maker.

How long has this back cover been used without a change?

I've been aware of this back cover since it was first published in the
October 2012 issue of FVM, and has been used continuously since October
2014.

Doesn't anyone think that four years of the same back cover is starting
to get a bit tiresome?

Ask yourself, how old are these cameras that the young couple are holding?

More importantly, would you really buy this type of camera today?

Someone did once promise to do something about changing the back cover,
but it never happened, did it?

Promises are easy, aren't they?

If the IAC, and BIAFF, and FVM wish to continue into the future, then
please start by doing something about the back cover of our now, sad
looking magazine.

Unfortunately, so is sitting behind a keyboard moaning about issues that have been dealt with a long time ago. If you had taken the time to actually read my reply from 18 months ago to your last belittling Cathy, I requested the issue to be dropped after what I thought was a reasonable explanation. But, seeing as it's too much like hard work to scroll up and read it, here it is again, with the salient points highlighted for your attention:

Cathy, if you're really that concerned about the IAC, BIAFF, FVM and some of the real reasons why young people might be put off such a fantastic organisation, here's a thought: Stop denigrating the 'members only' magazine on an open public forum which is more likely to be seen by potential future members than the current 'members only' FVM, and start setting an example by doing something about the design of the "sad looking magazine" (your words) off your own bat, instead of moaning about it year in, year out and expecting other people to do it.

This post will probably be deleted by admin before too long, but don't bother replying anyway Cathy - I won't read it.

This is my final post.

Thank you to all my filmmaking friends and colleagues.

'Bye.
