Beacon Hill Film Project is a group of young people with learning disabilities in North Tyneside who make their own films from script to screen with professional mentoring and support. They write, film and edit their work as well as make the props, the costumes and compose the music. The project has already won two coveted film industry awards and the work has been aired on national television, being described by film critic Barry Norman as “enchanting.”

Will Sadler, The Project Manager, is a keen supporter of the IAC. He started as an amateur and entered our competition a few years ago. He was one of our judges in BIAFF 2008 and supports local clubs in the North East. The project has now reached the TOP 3 Lottery-funded arts projects in the country and the winner is decided entirely by public votes. In the autumn, the young filmmakers are travelling down to London to take part in a special live BBC 1 show, where the final result will be announced.

Can I ask all forum readers to support their search for lottery funding by clicking on the following link

A very inspiring and worthy project.

I notice that the project had some support from the UK Film Council which for reasons that are totally inexplicable and irrational is soon to be abolished. What a shame.
