Angel of Saigon - Sizzle Reel

Post by fraught »

Evening all!

Haven't been around for a while, and there are many reasons why... but this is one of them! As some of you know, i've been researching the life of a woman called Liz Thomas for a few years now, in the hope of making a feature film about her. Well, i have a script now, written by a talented script writer based in Paris. All i need now is to persuade people to give me the money to make it! The film is primarily set in the early 1970's in Saigon, so as you can imagine, it's going to cost a bit of cash! As a way of helping the fundraising, we've dramatised certain scenes from the film (mixing in footage from other movies) to make a 'Sizzle Reel'... which is a trailer for a film that hasn't been made yet. Proof of concept really. Anyway... i've finally finished the Sizzle Reel and we've put it online for people to see and to help raise awareness of our project. Have a watch and let me know what you think;

Bear in mind, we shot the whole thing in sunny Basingstoke! ;-)

Hi Fraught; your sizzle reel looks great but I cannot find any reference to a Liz Thomas "Angel of Saigon". An American; Betty Tinsdale comes up under all AoS searches except your film project.

Thanks Ned!

Now you know why it has taken so long to research her! :-) Liz Thomas wrote a book about her experiences in Vietnam called 'Dust of Life'.

Looking good, Geoff. I'm sure you'll make a good job of it. The cast worked well - are you hoping to use the same people? Hope you manage to get the funding necessary. I'll chip in a fiver ;)

Cheers Tim. I'd love to use the same cast, but if people are giving us money (and i mean lots of it), we may have to change the cast around a bit. But if i was in total control, i would definitely keep the same cast. :)
