I have been requested to prepare a presentation on "Computer Animation".
I would like to limit this presentation to animate simple children stories that would involve walking of the characters and moving their mouths etc.
Any idea where I could find some explanatory material on how to do this with a computer.

You mention "computer animation' is this 2 dimensional animation using a software application to draw figures like 'Southpark'? Or is it 3D animation using computers to produce animations like 'Shreck' ? Or is it using a computer to capture stop motion animation like the 'Corpse Bride' ?.

I mean simple two dimensional animation. That's hard enough for new people getting interested in making short animated videos.

Some primary schools have a simple animation program. You create (or borrow) a character and in the terminology of the system you can "stamp" it onto the screen, move and stamp it again. I heard about it at BIAFF from the man behind the film Our Environment Is Important

The advantage of this is speed. You can get results quickly which is essential for this sort of situation.

http://www.scrapblog.com/viewer/Viewer.aspx?sbid=31324 is a brief interview with Oskar Stringer who teaches animation to young people. He is very popular in the South-West area and well beyond. The page includes contact details for him. That will give you some ideas.
