Re: Disability day venue

Tom, I used to have that sort of problem with my old PC when watching any video from any source, the poor thing just didn't have the processing power. But I doubt that's the reason in your case. You may just have a slow Internet connection somewhere between you and Vimeo's servers. The video plays s...

Re: Disability day venue

I've just watched your video John, and as Dave says, if that's your snatched footage the final film is going to be awesome. I'm no expert on video, I'm an AV person who throws in a bit of video because my DSLR can do it, but I thought your camera work was excellent and the choice of music really fit...

Re: IAC forums traffic

Yes, Fred it would be nice if more people used the forums. I've no idea why they don't, but it's a similar story on a couple of other forums I'm on, it's always the same handful of people who post and when they've nothing to say the forum goes quiet.

Re: The Magnificent Bronzes of St Pancras

Thanks for fixing the link Dave. I really enjoyed watching that film. The camera work was brilliant considering it must have been all hand held and the composition of the shots was also very good. I thought the bronze frame round the scenes of the frieze worked well and gave more impact to that part...

Quick video snapped in passing. I put this on YouTube in response to scathing criticism my some art critics.
I can't get the YouTube link to work. :(

Nice shots, John. I liked the composition on the boat shots and the dog looked like he/she was having fun.

Re: Hello everyone

Hi John.

Thanks for your kind comments about my website. As you'll gather I'm mainly a 'stills' photographer and my favourite subject is steam trains, but I've started to do a bit of video since my DSLR has a video mode.

It'll be interesting to hear how you get on with your new camera.

Re: Hello everyone

Dave's right. When the camera arrives read the quick start guide and get out and start shooting, there's no substitute to actually using a camera to find out what it can do, and what it can't. Read the BIG manual only when there's something specific you want to know, reading the whole thing from cov...

Re: You Tube and Windows

Roy. IE8 is quite a good choice if you want to stay with a Microsoft browser, sometimes I wish I'd stayed with IE8 and not upgraded to IE9. As to the 2nd install of Win7. When you install Windows it will ask for the product key as part of the install process, you'll then have 21 days, or thereabouts...

Re: You Tube and Windows

Roy, if you've only got one licence key with your copy of Win7 you can only install it on one PC, the activation process will detect duplicate installs. But as Dave says you don't need Win7 to get a more up to date browser, there are several available. I used to use IE9 but now use Chrome because of...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

Peter B - when you upload a film to You Tube there's a check-box, 'Do you mind having adverts placed over your film?'. You obviously left this to YouTube and have allowed them to do it. Thanks for that info Tom. The check-box is either relatively new, within the last 6 months or so, or I missed it!...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

YouTube put adverts over a couple of my videos without asking, and there was no illegally used copyright music in either of them. I guess I just got unlucky and YouTube thought the music was similar to a copyrighted piece. I haven't had any stutters or long pauses since the early days of broadband w...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

Chrisbitz, you ask why people put their videos on Vimeo. I have my own website which is essentially an on-line photo gallery and when I wanted to add my videos to the site uploading them to my own webspace was clearly impractical. So I went for the obvious and popular option, YouTube. Later on I dis...
