Re: The camera that changed the world
Old fashioned principles for film making are important but should be adapted when necessary as long as the producers understand what (and why) they are taking that line. Couldn't agree more. You'll note my criticism was of overuse in drama. Two key words - overuse and drama. It was innovative and a...

Re: Club Forum Hosting
....or, if you don't host your own website, see if your ISP already provides phpbb. Or go to one of the many free sites (eg http://www.freeforums.org/) and simply create one there. That's what I did for our "Studio Group" forum. The benefit of this approach is you don;t have to get involve...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER
Roy, there are two aspects to your post. 1. If you want to mount it on your camera, you will need something which will fit into your hot/cold shoe and provide a screw onto which you can mount the mic. 2. If you want to use te mic input in your camera (ie simply use the H1 as an external mic) you wil...

Re: COPY BARRING
Didn't try the PC, (oddly), however I have just done so and all I got was: "Incompatible DVD decoder", the disc would not even play .. the other methods I have i.e. VLC etc. simply ignored the disc and reported nothing. Fantastic, Lee. So it seems that the "scratching" method mi...

Re: Club Forum Hosting
Firstly, I must say I agree with Chris - to a large extent. We have one and it is rarely used for precisely the reasons Chris has stated: basically better forums already exist. I'm a frequent poster and a mod on another forum which almost perfectly matches my own needs. The club forum is (almost) su...

Re: COPY BARRING
Thanks for reporting your findings, Lee. I think you've missed the most important test though. In practice, people will be making a few copies only and almost certainly will not be using pro equipment. What is the result if you place your scratched "master" in a standard PC and try to copy...

Re: Club Showreel Required for Sept 9th
Many thanks to both Fraught and Roy for your kind offers (and in Fraught's case the potential of reducing Staines membership by causing severe heart problems among some members!). However, i'm really after a club reel - something that contains films made by a number of different people. Hope you und...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER
Roy, The sync issue really isn't an issue. It's very easily dealt with. The Zoom is far more convenient than the mini-disc. I'm not even sure you can transfer mini-disc output digitally to PC (minidic uses ATRAC, not wav or mp3) so you have to use the analoge output to the analogue input of your PC'...

Club Showreel Required for Sept 9th
Does anyone have a recent Club Showreel I can show to our members on September 9th. We have a couple of evenings a year where we like to sit back and enjoy films from another club and I realise I haven't filled this date yet. I'm asking on here as it's good to make contact with clubs we don't often ...

Re: New laptops-no firewire- how to transfer HDV footage?
Tim Black Magic produce some very good products, I have just looked at the cost which from Creative Video is £135 so it is not just an adaptor lead Indeed (I have the Intensity Pro internal card) I was just posting this as a possible solution as there is justified concensus here that a firewire to ...

If you have USB3 and the camera has HDMI out you could use one of these:

Re: The camera that changed the world
We appear to have come full circle as eyebrows are raised at a hint of that roving and wobbly camera, whether the content is relevant or not. Was all this pioneering work in vain or does someone have to break the mould again? There's a certain amount of irony in that the wobbly hand-held look is no...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER
I have the H" but found that hen I connected my Sen MHK300 that it introduces hiss whereas the mikes on the H2 are silent- far better! I find the same when connecting my Sen ME66! However, at least in my case, the hiss is very specific and easily removed using a noise reduction tool in an audi...
