Re: Club Publicity - ideas wanted
Chrisbitz says I'd guess we've had 10-20 new members enquire and come to at least one meeting... I wonder why one meeting only, as we have had this, in much smaller numbers, and have not been able to find out why they didn't come again, sometimes in spite of saying they would, 'booking' their place ...

Metroplan screen problems
We've just bought a Metroplan screen (5 ft square) from Office Furniture on line. We had to return it because the folds didn't disappear even when it had been extended for two hours or more. OFO had it replaced by Metroplan but the replacement doesn't seem much better. Metroplan say it should improv...

Re: 16 mm projector help
Thanks a lot, Lee. Ray King was very helpful not only finding that he had some suitable belts but giving me some tips on installing them and using the projector which alone are worth some of the price for the belts. I have done one film-video transfer on it to my DSR 300 with my best-beloved turning...

Re: Short Films
Thanks to all of you though I hope there may be more responses What I have gathered is not to try to make a long film too short. I have been working on a film of Prague that was shot ten years ago and never edited which means it was taken on Hi8 - a pity, because it shows, but it has been interestin...

Short Films
I rarely make short films, usually 20 minutes upwards, as I don't feel I can do justice to my subjects in a shorter time. Do those of you who do, start with a 'short' idea or do you find you can cut longer films down to the popular 10 - 15 minutes? This has arisen from trying to cut from 30 minutes ...

16 mm projector help
Elf NT-2 needs drive belts in its spool arms. A source would be a help, please.
A beautiful looking Bolex 521, plug it in, switch it on but can't turn the rotary (forward, back, lamp on etc, knob) Do you pull it out, push it in or is there an electro-magnetic lock on it, or something else?

Re: 'Low Energy' lamps
I am sorry to keep replying to my own post but I made a mistake when posting the second one through misreading the monitor. The BT broadband box is constantly using 8 watts not .08. This looks as if my whole post is rubbish but I have checked the bulbs again and those readings are correct. Thank you...

Re: 'Low Energy' lamps
Since posting this message I have had the opportunity of using two monitors. One, from the County Council available through the Library service here, measures what is going into the mains meter in and can measure whole watts. The other, borrowed from my electrician neighbour, is plugged into the mai...

'Low Energy' lamps
I'm sorry but I can't find the original post on this subject. It may have been on the NLE site. David, I think, was saying that unless they were on for a long time low energy bulbs used more than the filament ones. I asked our ("green") energy suppliers and this is part of their reply, aft...

Re: NTSC DVDs with Nero Start Smart
Thanks for this everyone. I have just recorded an audition (or should that be vidition?) for a lass who's going to the NY Film Academy and is hoping for a scholarship and I wondered about NTSC giving here a better chance of success but, yes, she will be sending a PAL one and I hope the academy can a...

NTSC DVDs with Nero Start Smart
If I use this programme to make DVDs and set it to NTSC will it actually turn my PAL video into NTSC or is it more complicated than that?

Re: Sony DSR 11 wouldn't connect, and a query.
Thanks, Tom, will pass that on, though I've never been so careful myself (except, probably, when I'd just read the instructions) and nothing has gone wrong with me either. But it will now, won't it!

Re: Sony DSR 11 wouldn't connect, and a query.
too many people have fried internal PCBs by not accurately aligning the Firewire plug before pushing it into the socket.
Looks as if deck at least should be switched off before checking connectivity, then Tom?

Sony DSR 11 wouldn't connect, and a query.
A colleague's DSR 11 couldn't be recognised by any of his computers. It turned out to be a simple matter - a poor connection in the Firewire socket which broke when the weight of the lead was pulling on it and was corrected by taping the lead to the top of the case. Perhaps this weakness is well kno...

Re: Getting our Films Seen.
What prompted my question? Just that I read and hear of people who SEEM to be bragging at the number of hits their films have got and I know that when I look at some films on the net, which I do rarely, that at least some of them I do not consider watching for very long. I realise that the net gives...
