Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

I see - I think that's a strange thing to do - I put all my films on both, as I want as many people as possible to see them, but you also can't beat a live audience reaction to your film. I love Youtube, as it's probably created more amateur filmmakers in the last 5 years than have been created in t...

Re: WHAT ARE YOUR YOUTUBE / VIMEO ETC NAMES?

I'm not sure I understand - Did one of your friends "pirate" his film and put it on their Youtube site or something?

Re: Filming in Public - revisited

The thing you need to ask yourself is, - Did the brownies have a "reasonable expectation of privacy" during what they were doing? Cases where you might have a reasonable expectation might be: in your bathroom, at a private event, in your garden. In the middle of the high street, during a b...

Re: using "weapons" in amateur films

we had a couple of lads in OVFM who shot a film outside using fake guns. They did everything perfectly. they called round at the police stn, and told them where and when they would be filming, and the police were very helpful and friendly. On the day, we were filming in the "registered" ro...

Re: IAC forums traffic

I'm not sure that anyone's asking for them to be "forced" to take part, It's just in my opinion, I'm sad and disappointed that they're burying their heads in the sand regarding the inevitable future of their organisation. Of course, that's just my personal opinion, and it may well be that ...

Re: Copying from Humax HD digital PVR

The other issue (I think) with FAT32, is that it can't handle file sizes over 2gb, which are quite like likely on a PVR, I'd imagine?

I wonder if it was the other way, it was complaining because it WASN'T NTFS?

Re: Future for clubs -

Well said guys. Those clubs with 70 members are very lucky, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but I'd just like to give credit where it's due - OVFM's 75+ members isn't lucky, it's a credit to the last 20 years of hard work by the committee and Reg Lancaster and Mike Turner's Chairmanship. Mayb...

This is the form we use - Of course, it's laid out a little nicer than this, but the content is all here. Re: IAC forums traffic

It is odd. We have 374 signed-up members of the forum who took the time and trouble to go through that fiddly registration procerss. Occasionally I meet some of them in person and ask ... the usual reply is that they are content and interested to read items, but feel no need to write themselves. As...

Re: IAC forums traffic

I suspect it's due to the IAC management not really believing in the new fangled internet, and not really believing it's going to catch on, and so don't give this forum the publicity, plugs and mentions it deserves in their membership communications. That's the main reason why I left a couple of yea...

Re: Club Films on Youtube

Youtube does have viewer analysis which is very useful but if there's anyone out there who thinks their movies are the best ever (yet not) it might be worth avoiding it! You're absolutely right - it's easy to get despondent when you hear of this film with 1m views and that film with hundreds ...

Re: You Tube

Just as another perspective, is it so bad that they put an unobtrusive advert next to your video? If you look at what you get in return for your advert, it's pretty generous! You get fantastic search engine optimisation on your video, you get billions of potential viewers, and a really simple upload...

Re: What baffled you when you began filming?

One of the biggest things I'm finding hard is the whole jargon, there are things on the camera and edit software that gets me staring into space :| i guess there are to many to mention and I do try to google each word meaning... i know i'm not the brightest button on the tunic, and do like to think...

Re: Club Films on Youtube

I totally agree with Fraught's opinion on film sharing. I make films for people to watch and enjoy, so for me, Vimeo and their small audience is a waste of effort. Miniscule "claimed" differences in quality are irrelevant. They will not make one iota of difference to the watchability of my...

Re: judging "targetted" films

I think it's inappropriate to expect a Judge to judge any film for anything other than for General Appeal.

Unless it's a Harley Davidson film competition of course.
