a couple of tricks I've discovered - although they're in Premiere, not elements but might work?.... Sometimes, it can be a corrupt video file. Just to rule out the bleedin' obvious, :-) Have a quick scan of your video source folder, in explorer with details on, and look at the file sizes. there may ...

ok, thanks for being gentle with my hopefully constructive comments! :-) I felt there were two parts to the film - the first bit with the bus journey and the spider, were ok, (I liked the spider bit) but I'm not sure they were truly relevant to the film you were making - it kinda felt like "thi...

I've just watched your film, and I certainly think you worked hard on the music, as it seemed very well chosen! You have an unusual sound to your voiceover voice... :-) almost like you're recording the VO late at night, and the kids are asleep in the next room! :-) The film didn't really tell me any...

Do you have an example H&S form and release form you can post? I use a release form that appears quite all-encompassing, and I've heard of risk assessment, but never really known what to do... Do you do one for almost every shoot, or have a universal, re-useable one, or a variety of re-usable on...

first thing I'd do is remove the pinnacle card and see if that makes any difference. if you have ANY other non-standard peripherals I'd remove them too -

If it used to work, and it doesn't now, then it's something you've added or changed. like I keep saying, back to basics! :-)

rule out the obvious - unplug any sort of imaging thing from the computer. reboot. plug camera in, and turn on - listen for the usual bing bong sound.. It should be a real simple thing - you just have to go back to basics... in my experience it'll be something silly that you'll kick yourself about :...

could it be that the computer is seeing your webcam as your capture device? Does it make any difference if you actually unplug your webcam before turning on the computer?

That course sounds really interesting - what's the background? is it a voluntary job, or your full time work?

Thanks very much "Skull Krusher" :-) Bet that phrase isn't uttered often!

I use an FX1, and I think I was shooting in HD mode too.

the thought of amateur films longer than 20 mins strikes me with terror! There's a skill to making films you know, and a lot of amateurs have less skills than spielberg or lucas. So if I'm gonna sit politely through their "experimental" film about red things merging with yellow things, I'd...

I don't know what versions or each you're using, but I find that the two have VERY different interfaces!

Anyway, have a look at videocopilot.net if you want a long introduction on what AE is capable of (loads of free, top quality tutorials!)
