Re: A New Video Magazine??!!

They have copies of Digital Film Maker in my local WH Smiths but having looked through it I'm afraid it didn't really appeal to me as it seems to be aimed at the pro or semi pro market. I seem to remember that the reason that magazines like Making Better Movies (going way back) and Camcorder User (g...

Re: A New Video Magazine??!!

Mike, I wonder if this is the same magazine I spotted in WH Smith a while ago? The one I saw was devoted to people who make films using digital SLR cameras and seemed to be aimed at the semi pro market. If I get time in the morning I'll pop down to my local branch and check it out.

Re: Adobe software

I just heard about this move by Adobe at the camera club last night and I gather that it has caused fury among users of Photoshop who are very upset indeed.

Re: RAY HARRYHAUSEN

It's strange but just a week ago I visited the David Livingstone centre in Blantyre and noticed on the Livingstone family tree that Ray Harryhausen was married to one of David Livingstone's descendants. I well remember the talk he gave at BIAFF at the BAFTA theatre and he was also a favourite among ...

Re: YOUR BIAFF 2013 RESULTS

Congratulations John on your well deserved success with your terrific film "Thinking Time" which I have just enjoyed watching. I can't wait to see it on the big screen at BIAFF and I agree with Michael that it will go down a storm at the Festival.

Re: Irish TV program Zooms in on 8MM

The link works fine here in the UK and what a wonderful programme, celebrating the charms of Super 8 film. It's nice to see amateur movies taken seriously and demonstrates the value of personal films as social history. Thank you for sharing this on the forum.

Re: Award Presentations

When I was working I used to have to attend an awards ceremony (nothing to do with films) and what they did was announce the respective winners who then went onto the platform to receive their award and have a photo taken. They weren't required to speak to the audience, but their walk to the platfor...

Re: My latest Movie short

There is some superb work being produced in audio visual these days and if you take the IAC's Peter Coles competition as just one example you will find documentaries on all manner of subjects, some serious, some light hearted and many thought provoking. There are also impressionistic sequences that ...

Re: Attracting New Members

There have been so many postings since my own that I've only had a minute to skim through them but I sense that there may be a misconception about some of my comments which I must correct. In drawing a comparison with the PAGB I wasn't suggesting that the IAC should adopt a similar structure, I was ...

Re: Attracting New Members

Dave touched on the subject of clubs and what the IAC can do for them and it occurred to me that it might be worth drawing some comparisons with the camera club scene which, at least in Scotland, is currently very healthy with clubs attracting new members from a very wide age group. My own club is a...

Re: BILL TOWNLEY - rumours of his death premature!

It was a relief to know that Bill Townley is alive and kicking. For those who don't know, Bill is something of a legend to those of us who were involved in amateur movies in the era of film. Towards the end of the 1960's Bill made an extraordinary film called Baskeyfield VC, a war movie which tells ...

Re: merry christmas

I'll also take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy New Year. With Tim's kind permission I included his "Merry Xmas 2010" in the SAM Christmas Social film show. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the film and it really got us all into the Christmas spirit. I think it also...

Mike. I don't have any experience of using twin monitors but I wonder if calibrating them using a Spyder might do the trick?
