A tripod upgrade

A recent couple of movies I've made has left me wondering if my Libec DV TH950 tripod could be worth an upgrade to improve noticable shake at high zoom with my Sony Z5, caused by my hand on the handle. To cope with this, I tend to frame the shot, lock it, then let go of the tripod handle to keep the...

Re: Compatible Blu-ray Export Setting.

Thanks Col. The question about firmware of my LG burner hadn't even occured to me. All I know is that my H264 disks work in a Sony S360 player, but have not worked in a Panasonic player a few months ago. I'll see how my latest effort gets on.

Compatible Blu-ray Export Setting.

I've just finished a wedding DVD filmed and edited in HDV, and want to export it to Bluray as well as SD. I know not all Blu-ray players will play the kind of bluray disks I've made over the last year or so. I use Premiere CS5 to export HDV 1440 x 1080 footage, keeping its matched format setting to ...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER

Not sure why Billy from C was getting low level recordings with the H2 because of course there's very many compression, limiting and AGC settings in the menu, as well as full manual recording. There's even a high and low mic sensitivity switch, so you can therefore have any level you like with what...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER

I don't notice a sync problem with my H2. As for Tim's comment about his recordings being less than a frame out of sync every 10 minutes or so, well without a graphical demonstration of that you surely wouldn't notice that difference in under the best part of an hour maybe (6 frames), so you'd need ...

Re: Window 8

Hi Roy
We've got touch screen PC's at work, and without knowing they're touch screen, you wouldn't know they're any different from ordinary monitors. I don't notice screens covered with fingerprints. It looks an interesting idea.

Re: Some royalty free music that sounds like Larry Adler

Thanks Dave - yep the guy running the event asked me if had seen the movie Genevieve - I have seen some clips of it maybe - and that is the kind of music that is preferred. I told him about what I'm not allowed to do with music, but I guess he feels it's my problem to find the music. I've listened t...

Some royalty free music that sounds like Larry Adler

I've been asked to provide some overlay music for an old car and motorbike rally event, music that sounds a bit like Larry Adler from the 1950's. For those like me who doesn't know his work, well from what I heard he does harmonica moderate tempo upbeat style music. Anyone know of something that I c...

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER

When's your birthday? The Zoom H2, or even the Zoom H1 at £79 would be a great voice-over sound recorder and a brilliant birthday present from your kids.

Re: H2 ZOOM DIGITAL RECORDER

The overall build quality and screen size is much better on the H4n, but being double the price, I judged it too pricey. I find that the H2 works well for voice overs, especially with my Sennheiser mic.

Re: Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 64 bit

I edited my first proper movie (5mins) over the weekend that was shot with an AVCHD TM700 Panasonic cam in 1920x1080, and exported with H264 as a Blu-ray disk, via Premiere CS5. It encoded and exported fine, and burned a disk via Encore - taking about 5 mins for the encoding and 2 mins to burn the d...

Re: Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 64 bit

I'd think if you went with Intel processor and board, you'd give yourself the best chance of getting the edit card working - but there must be a Matrox forum with members with your edit card who could do better than guess. It's more about the Matrox software I'd think.

Re: Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 64 bit

I moved to CS5 for use with AVCHD, but CS4 ran fine with HDV material. If you've got the original disks, and the rest of hardware is properly installed, I'm at a loss to work why your PC is having trouble showing the timeline. Does it work for standard def? Have you got a reliable 600w+ power supply?

Re: Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 64 bit

I used Premiere CS4 with windows 7 64bit for about a year without many problems. I did have problems trying to export HDV projects to the Canon HV30 camcorder - it was hit and miss rather than a total failure. Have you used it with the Matrox card in it and their software, which might be causing thi...

Re: Club Publicity - ideas wanted

A couple of ideas that we're trying is to put movie disks with club advertising on them into the local libraries. Also we are about to contact local camera clubs to contact people with digital SLR's who have started doing video. I hear that some camera clubs are growing in numbers so maybe so sharin...
