Re: BIAFF 2014

I agree to a certain extent Ned... but this is a competition. There are prizes, trophies and the best films are celebrated. Take that aspect away from BIAFF and i'd happily shut up. But as long as there is a competition element to the festival (and long may it continue) you will always get upset fil...

Re: BIAFF 2014

As someone who was both a Judge at BIAFF and an entrant, i can honestly say there is no bias towards anyone during the judging weekend. No one talks about the films during the breaks, or what they gave them award wise. I started to get paranoid as i had hoped someone might come up to me and say that...

Re: BIAFF 2014

I am REALLY chuffed that my feature film 'Addict' is being screened at BIAFF, especially considering it's subject matter. Looking forward to watching it on the big ('ish) screen. :)

Re: BIAFF 2014

Firstly... thanks for taking the time to watch the film. Really appreciate it. I also appreciate everyone's honesty. I think it just proves that Art is subjective, another man's medicine is another man's poison. Bedford it is! :)

Re: BIAFF 2014

I have to be honest... i'm still scratching my head over the 4 Stars for Karen's Room . The only negative comment was to do with a short dialogue exchange where the audio is quite low. It's actually meant to be that way, to help emphasise what happens next in the scene. No one else has had an issue ...

Re: BIAFF 2014

Ha ha! I do try to sneak into all my films these days. See if you can spot me in 'Karen's Room'!

Re: BIAFF 2014

I've just been told by my colleague that a film I Produced (SoulMatrix) has got a Diamond award, along with Best Comedy and Best Editing awards. So really chuffed about that! Not technically my film, so i don't count it in my mission to get a Diamond award... but i'm chuffed to bits that it's done s...

Re: BIAFF 2014

My pride has been dented this year if i'm honest. I thought i put in a really strong film. My short Karen's Room won the Teign Cup last year, as well as winning Best Non-Professional Film at NOFI 2013 in LA in December. I thought i was oncourse for a 5 star or maybe even my first Diamond (wishful th...

Re: BIAFF 2014

My results came in this morning... I had 2 films entered, one result i was very pleased with, the other not quite so.

Having been a judge at the event, i have been scratching my head a little over the result, but i'm not going to moan! ;-) I'm on the other side of the fence this year! LOL

Re: FVM April 2014

I agree with alot of the above. WE have the power to do something about the magazine, by submitting articles that WE would want to read. Or even persuading others to do so! I've been badgering certain friends of mine to write and article about the Red Carpet Screenings Film Festival... hopefully som...

Re: FVM April 2014

Haven't read my copy yet, but i do like the paper format. Perhaps offer the magazine for digital download the following month? So there can be an online archive for reference at a later date.

Re: BIAFF 2014

Not always true: When Fraught was good enough to judge our annual Inter-Club Competition last year, not only did he have to judge on the night but also write up notes afterwards! Despite this he has very generously agreed to judge again for us this year. :) Cheers Tim. I have to say i prefer to giv...

Re: BIAFF 2014

And i'm done! Phew!!! That took longer than i thought it would take! The whole experience has been great and one that i would definitely do again (if asked back!). I was a first round judge, and the first screening kicked off at 9am on the Saturday. There were 6 screening rooms across the hotel, eac...

Re: BIAFF 2014

Hi Ken, I had a really good time thanks, was good to meet everyone and it was a great experience all round... but as you say, i'm still trying to write up the comments! I don't want to rush them as they are quite important to those that entered, but writing them is currently taking up most of my spa...

Re: BIAFF 2014

Sounds like Mike and I are closely matched with our test... will have to discuss how close we were! I'm pretty sure all will be fine, there are regulations on what to do if there is a disagreement... although I'm hoping that doesn't happen. :)
