Re: FVM MAGAZINE - DECEMBER 2014

So whatever happened to your promises John? Over two years later, and we're still waiting for your promise of a new back cover for FVM magazine. Give it up, I'm really not in the mood. But, for your information, I did not renege on my promises and photographs of the merchandise were duly taken and ...

Re: While you wait for BIAFF results ...

There seem to be a lot of film festivals via Film Freeway which take your entry fee of $10 or $25 or whatever, and then reject your entry without any feedback and without refund of the fee. This was something my Romanian friends mentioned when they entered BIAFF; they said ours was the ONLY festiva...

Re: BACKUPS ...

Oh, most definitely agree, Dave! It's the tiny little text files with an access code here or there that are often vitally important. Not everything can be retrieved online though - my email server - that is the little black box of hardware somewhere long forgotten in a dusty cellar - celebrates its ...

Re: Amateur photographer film competition

And now we have a definition of an amateur - earns less than 10% of income or max GBP 5,000 pa. ned c Which I would've thought was certainly not the definition of a non-commercial filmmaker  An interesting definition though, and one that might be adopted in certain circles to raise the perceiv...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00ZEKHVSU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bargain bag of bits from Amazon I was gifted for my GoPro - all reasonably well put together and I'm sure items such as the selfie stick, head mount, floating handler, handlebar/pole mount, window suction...

Re: When is a Blu-Ray not a Blu-Ray?

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply :) We didn't solve the problem and put it down to 'one of those things' but also 'glad' to see that we are not the only ones suffering from a similar, if rare situation. We'll keep an eye out for any further failures and make notes of disc brands and burning software u...

*bump*

Has anyone else come across a similar situation before? Just so I have something to say about this at our meeting tomorrow, otherwise it's going to be a very early bath!

Re: When is a Blu-Ray not a Blu-Ray?

Thanks for your reply, Roy

Still not sure what to say to the club about the errant disc, though. Apparently it was checked on 3 different Blu-Ray players prior to arriving at the competition, and all three played it back perfectly :?

When is a Blu-Ray not a Blu-Ray?

Hello to everyone :-) Before a recent inter-club challenge match I was contacted by a knowledgeable member of the competing club to ask if some of their entries could be supplied on a USB memory stick. My stock reply was yes, but with the ever expanding range of codecs being employed we couldn't abs...

Re: Is my projector a 7 year-old girl?

I suggest your projector needs to 'man-up' Dave  Either that or cobble together a Heath Robinson system of a motorised colour correction filter which folds out over the projector lens, operated by an industrial killswitch and accompanied by a showmanship-like maniacal laugh  In short, I h...

Re: CONNECTING CABLE

Firewire 1394 4-pin or 6-pin to USB cables and adaptors are certainly available, but whether the two devices connected by the cable are compatible and able to 'talk to each other' is an entirely different matter! I believe a few Firewire enabled camcorders can be set to output data in a format that ...

Re: From tape to memory card

Some very interesting points here, and I think Micheal has hit the nail on the head by stating that there never will be a solution to our archiving/storage issues! At least not at a price we can afford! Stephen, your post reminded me of my current music archive. Anyone remember the Sony PCM sy...

Re: From tape to memory card

Hi Ken, sorry to hear about your camera issues and enforced change of system, always a stressful time! I'll keep this brief as other forum members will no doubt have more detailed and authoritative answers than I. I note that you mention you've bought some memory cards but do not mention whether you...

Re: BluRay and usb players with audio out

Hi Peter, I've used an LG Blu-Ray burner for years, and my main monitor is LG and have no issues with them (although I did have an LG TV which I thought was awful!). All my Blu-Ray players (computer mounted and standalone) require occasional firmware updates to keep track of the ever-changing Blu-Ra...
