Re: MP3 to CD-R
Hi Tom, Maybe Nero thinks you are making an audio CD? I've never experienced an issue with Nero adding 2 seconds in between tracks, once I had turned that option off. I too have split long mp3's into smaller ones (I used to listen to a vast collection of The Goons) and all played as one long continu...

Re: MP3 to CD-R
Glad you managed to get it sorted, Tom - unfortunately the British Gas engineer beat me to a reply! https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-make-chapters-in-audacity Doesn't Nero have the option of adding 2 seconds between audio tracks when burning a CD-R? It's an option I've always un-ticked so i...

Re: Mic into PC for V/O
Hi Pete, I was part way through a lengthy tome but got distracted, so Tim beat me too it! I would add that the mic socket on the front of your PC should supply 'plug-in power' in the same way as your camcorder/camera does, so any microphone combination that works on your camera will work on your PC....

Re: Adobe CS5 speed
Hi Roy, I'm not an Adobe user and I'm unfamiliar with CS5, but I assume by 'log on' you mean 'launch the application' as opposed to logging on to the internet to allow use of the program from their Creative Cloud subscription service? I have a similar experience with Sony Movie Studio 12, and I cons...

Re: You Tube & copyright music
Hi Peter, It's an automated system - it has to be due to the sheer number of videos being uploaded - and therefore it's a fallible system. I have been picked up for copyright infringement on my music videos, of me playing, in my band, playing our own original music , and when I questioned it twice I...

Creative Soundscape Videos
Hello to everyone. In 2012 I produced a series of tutorial videos for an evening's talk at my club on the subject of creating better soundscapes. I started the series in the middle 1990's, covering both recording and editing in one evening, but later talks were split into two separate evenings cover...

Re: Video lighting Suppliers
Hi Tim, yes you're probably right about the placement of the lights because we had quite a bit of room to spread into. I've just had a look on the DPP FB page and the photos are there, probably a bit further down the page somewhere. Or, if you click on 'Photos' then where the albums are listed at th...

Re: Video lighting Suppliers
Sorry Tim, I can't help you with a supplier as I've never had cause to chat to any. My somewhat limited experience of decent green screen work was during the shooting of the two Carnival of Thieves music videos, and they were set up by the pro photographer in the band. The green screen was lit by a ...

Re: Better Film Sound
Whilst I await John's more authoritative treatise... I can waffle on about this for hours LOL  In reply to Peter's original query, and in defence of James Chalmers's 'Suggestions for better film sound' articles - audio is as much of a dark art as video! I find it incredibly hard to generalise ...

I had already started a response, but unfortunately had to leave off to go and do some filming!Dave Watterson wrote:I hope that someone like John Roberts or Alan Colegrave will comment, since they have far more knowledge of sound technicalities than I do.
