Re: Message for Willy

I received the diploma "Master Moviemaker Fellowship" at BIAFF, Royal Tunbridge Wells. I also proposed a toast to the IAC. You filmed it! You filmed one of the most memorable moments in my life. Many thanks, Michael! I asked Michael to record your speech on that occasion, Willy. I imagine...

Re: printing Gmail meaage

Hello Roy On my gmail there is a set of menus at the top left of the screen. Under "File" you find "Print" OR Put your cursor in the message, right-click and from the menu which pops up choose "Print" An alternative is to put your cursor in the message select it all (on...

Re: BIAFF ONLINE ...

UNICA used Vimeo Showcase system to present its films this year. You needed to enroll in advance to be given the password, but once there you could watch the films at your leisure over most of a week. I am also one of those awkward people who like to slip in and our of mini-cinemas, to avoid films I...

BIAFF ONLINE ...

So the announcement has been made. There will be no traditional BIAFF this year. It will all take place online. The Online UNICA worked better than I feared - and some of you saw it. We will probably all miss the personal contacts, the dash for tea-and-biscuits between shows ... the buzz of a live o...

Re: Anyone out there?

Thanks (!) to Covid there was no UNICA Festival and competition this year ... BUT 11 countries contributed 20-minute film programmes to share online in a non-competitive presentation. They have been online for several days but if you are very quick you may see them: https://vimeo.com/showcase/745037...

Re: Website providers

My recommendation is Weebly. It is free - though as is often the case they sometimes tempt you to buy a more advanced system. It does not add advertisements to your website as some free services do. It asks only for a mention of its name in the page footnote. You get a free domain which includes the...

Re: Jameela

My least favourite term for what we do is "unprofessional filming" - which is used in parts of Eastern Europe. "Non-professional" is bad enough! The one I usually use outside Britain is Ned Cordery's suggestion of "non-commercial". Instinctively I do not like a negative...

Re: Jameela

It would be a pity to lose the perspective you bring, Ned. We are all too insular in Britain. Please keep contributing on these ideas.

As for social media ... I find my own Facebook and Twitter feeds remarkably quiet. Is it because with so little happening, there is less to discuss?

Re: Jameela

The job of a committee is not to meet, its job is to get things done. There are indeed IAC Council members who have been there for many years, some for many decades, and who do not now contribute in terms of actual work. They may have helpful experience and advice, but that is not enough. I suspect ...

Re: BIAFF 2020 RESULTS

Who knows? The pundits keep giving different information and various medical friends keep saying life cannot really start getting back to normal until a reliable vaccine has been created and is widely available. In the meantime you can find many of the films in most star categories online at YouTube...
