As you all know. My name is mud by certain members in my club. It is all a long story. I`ll mention it one last time for the new members of the forum. The older one`s can skip the next bit or they my fall asleep at there keyboards! (Joke!) When I was club Sec, I made a film for our Short Open Compet...

I design my films the following way. If it`s for a club competition. I have a small book and a page for each competition. This is my ideas book. I could be watching television or a film and an idea will come into my head. It will either be an idea for a new film or it will be a new tecneque or effec...

You are both right. But there is another way. The BBC did a special Children In Needs Doctor Who special. The user wore a set of glasses that had on glass darker then the other one. The cameraman had to keep the camera moving for the illution to work. Basicly the camera would move around the subject...

It is also good to make films for certain competitions. It gives you a sence of something to work for, and a timescale. If you just make films willy-nilly then you tend to loose track on what it`s all about. Being in a club helps with this a films have to be in a certain time, and also have to cover...

Now you are talking. I bend the rules too, and most people I work with think I'm totally bent too!! And you have to break the mold to realise that sometimes it should not be broken, and then hastily mend it! I think I need you in my club for support! There all a bit set in there ways. When we were ...

Ian - I use anything that works! I know that some programs do more, and are easier to use, but most editing is straight cuts, and personally I can do without all the fancy transitions which are mostly gimmicks! Reliability and speed, with ease of use would be my main criteria, and most programmes f...

No-one wants to edit either. I would! Or be the cameraman! I find editing one of the most powerfull jobs. Does anyone else. My reason is this. You are given hours of raw footage and it`s your job to turn all this footage into something worth watching witha story! You could edit it in a way that is ...

Slightly going on a tangent (as I do!). You could (NOT that I would), include one frame now and again. No-one would see it. It would register as something in the brain, but you would not see it! If you were caught, then you could be blacklisted! I did this with letters spelling out something during ...

I wondered when Michael Slowe would join in this thread :) I`ve seen some of Michaels Cine films. They are really good. As films go, I can imagine how much work went into them. In the old days, a whole army would have been used to edit and process the film (feature films). Quite amazing really. Ian ...

Well said Dave, The worlds computers are dominated by 99% PC, and less then 1% Mac. The Macs may be more prone to Viruses etc, and the PC better protected but we always have to update every day. If someone is to target something then to make more money and have a bigger `Con`, it is better to target...

Lost sync can be caused by a few things. 1. Problems not spotted with the burning of the dvd. Very unlikely. 2. Problems with the dvd player, ie it cannot handle the high bitrate that the dvd was burn`t at. Maybe. 3. The way dvd`s and HD work is that the data is compressed to really high compression...

Well done for thinking about HD. It will future proof your club (for a few years) on the projection front. Check reselutions. There are two main one`s 1080 and 720. Also there are (i) and (p), interlaced and progressive. Most cameras use one of them but the more exspensive can use both. You lucky yo...
