Re: Can't send email attachments

Hi Peter. I'll throw my 2p's worth in, for what it's worth. Incoming mail (POP3) mail.freenetname.co.uk Outgoing mail (SMTP) ‘localhost’ The 'localhost' entry for the outgoing SMTP server looks wrong, it should be the SMTP server for your Internet Service Provider. Most ISP's these days have their S...

If you're looking for AV software for your computer, you might like to take a look at Sophos free offer.

Re: Is my projector a 7 year-old girl?

In my, very limited, experience with video projectors a colour cast is usually caused by a 'lost' channel. So I'd suggest three things, 1: check the cable is plugged in properly, 2: try another cable and 3: try another laptop. Don't do all these at once though, fault-finding is best done by changing...

Re: windows 10 query

If you really don't want Windows 10 and don't want Microsoft to be constantly offering it to you, or worse, sneaking it onto your PC as a Windows Update, then take a look at the GWX Control Panel.

"Facebook, on the other hand, I find a nightmare to navigate. Especially when I see a post and it's disappeared when I go back to examine it in detail." I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble finding a Facebook post I want to look at a second time. It's a long time since I uploaded...

Re: Adobe and CS5

In Photoshop Elements there is an option under the 'Help' menu marked 'Deactivate'. This enables you to de-register the software and then re-install it on another PC using the same activation code. I believe that CS5 has the same facility. Your PC must be connected to the Internet for this to work, ...

Re: 'IN MEMORIAM'

I think this is an excellent film. I also think that the lower image quality works to the films advantage and enhances the atmosphere of the film.
I congratulate you on your choice of background music, it really matches the spirit of the film especially for the final scenes.

Re: Wrong ratio

This would seem to be a common problem with YouTube, I've seen several videos on there that are clearly 16:9 squashed down to 4:3 but I've no idea why it happens.

I gave up uploading videos to YouTube a couple of years ago and now use Vimeo.

Re: Where to from here?

I accept I'm the only living person on this planet that reads amateur as meaning someone who does it for the love of it. I accept everyone else is so ignorant they think amateur means rubbish. It doesn't make me feel superior (well, not much). I've given in. You're not the only one Tim, I still rea...

Re: Adobe Creative Cloud

Creative Cloud is Adobe's new way of selling Photoshop etc. It's the same software as CS5, but unlike earlier versions it's not a 'buy it once and use it forever' product, with Creative Cloud you pay a monthly subscription and if you stop paying the sub, you lose access to the software! On the plus ...

Re: Firewire and Windows 7

USB is now so common that you can get cables to connect almost anything to USB.
Amazon have quite a collection of Firewire to USB cables so it should be possible to find one that will enable you to connect your camera directly to your PC's USB port.

Re: USB hub

Just a thought, but you might find a short USB extension cable would provide a less expensive solution than buying a hub.
It's what we did at work when we had a PC with a slightly wobbly USB port.

Re: Recommended movies on the web - UPDATED

Arrgh!! That made me dizzy!! The effect would be good if used once, or perhaps twice in a film, but to use it for every transition? I'm not so sure. But the effect is interesting, stepping through the film and pausing every few seconds shows there's more going on than just spinning the picture. As t...
